1. Vurb, a contextual search engine, aims to connect services across the web to bring back the old way of surfing the web. See this video of the Vurb team presenting at TechCrunch Disrupt.

2. DuckDuckGo, the search engine known for protecting user privacy, is about to be revamped. A DuckDuckGo blog post states:

This next version of DuckDuckGo focuses on smarter answers and a more refined look. We’ve also added many new features you’ve been requesting like images, auto-suggest, places and more. Of course, your privacy is protected as well!

    1. Thanks for your question Devon. I think it’s smart to understand what is coming with new technology. DuckDuckGo is a great search engine that has been around for a while. Many sourcers I know are already using it. I think the recent changes will help to improve user experience and make it more of a competitor of Google than it has been in the past. The other two are very new search engines. It’s always good to know about these and experiment to see if they help you in your pursuit of the right candidates. In no way should you change everything you’re doing because of these, but we should all do what we can to understand what new tools are being developed so we can experiment with them to see if they should become a permanent part of our process.
