This shouldn’t surprise any talent acquisition professionals, but LinkedIn announced on their blog that they have officially reached 300 million users worldwide. 100 million of those users are based in the US.
In the same announcement, they predict that later this year, mobile traffic will make up 50% of all visits to the site. That’s a significant number, especially when one considers that, five years ago, LinkedIn had just launched their first mobile application. Today, daily mobile use on the network includes an average of 15 million profile views, 1.45 million job views, and 44,000 job applications made in over 200 countries.
What else has changed during the last 5 years?

- Five years ago, males made up 61% of the network. They now make up 56%.
- The top five industries represented have changed. Information Technology and Services is still in the top spot. However, the other four industries listed didn’t appear in the previous list.
- The US still has the most users. International expansion into India and Brazil has moved Great Britain from number 2 to number 4.
How much bigger can LinkedIn get? They have their sights set on “every one of the 3.3 billion people in the global workforce”.
