What’s your background?
I studied Aerospace Engineering in school, but eventually left that world when I discovered I wasn’t really fit for the big corporate environment after working for Boeing for a while. I decided to turn my passion for programming into my career and have been doing software/web/mobile development ever since.
I founded Velocis in 2008 as a web development shop. Today we’re a product development boutique and a technology incubator helping early-stage companies succeed.
AngelHire is one of our internal products under development.
Tell us about the team you have built so far.
I am so incredibly proud of the team we’ve put together over the years. We’re a diverse group of people with deep skills and experience across all aspects of building, launching and running technology products. Combined we have close to 60 years worth of experience.
What financial support did you have to launch the business?
Currently we’re bootstrapping the product with our own time/money.
What problem are you trying to solve?
Today, there are some amazing platforms out there for sourcing quality candidates for open positions, AngelList being one that we personally have a lot of experience with. However, once the initial match with a candidate was made, there wasn’t an easy/effective process for managing what came next.
We’re streamlining the candidate review/engagement/selection process across multiple sourcing platforms.
Describe the business, core products, and services?
AngelHire enables you to import candidates from multiple sourcing platforms (we’re starting with AngelList and hope to expand to others quickly). From there, you can track where the candidates are in your hiring process… have you contacted them yet? scheduled an interview? had the interview? If so, what notes did the interview take on the candidate? how is a candidate ranked against others applying for the same position?
AngelHire is designed to enable hiring managers/staff to always have answers to these questions via an easy to use dashboard.
Who do you expect your customers and users to be at launch?
Initially, our customers will be companies and individuals utilizing the AngelList Talent platform to recruit candidates and find jobs.

Where do you stand right now with regard to funding?
We are currently bootstrapping this product, though always enjoy speaking with investors in this space. Interested investors can reach out to me to directly to start a conversation.
What is the business AND revenue model? What is your strategy for profitability?
AngelHire will be operated on the SaaS model with a monthly subscription fee. Subscription prices will likely be based on the number of jobs and/or candidates a company is tracking via AngelHire.
Our strategy for profitability is to deliver incredible value in a delightful product experience. Saving companies time and money is a powerful combination for success.
Did anyone tell you this wasn’t going to be successful?
Not yet.. but we’re sure they’ll come. Usually when people tell us a product isn’t a good idea, we know we’re on to something.
How will you measure success 12 months from now?
Easy… is AngelHire profitable and growing after 12 months? That’s our measure. We’ll likely know much sooner than 12 months whether or not it will be a success.
