4 Tech News Stories for Sourcers and Recruiters

Congrats! You’ve almost made it through Monday. Here are 4 tech  stories that should interest tech-minded sourcing and recruiting professionals.

  • Normally it’s just the recruiters complaining about LinkedIn. Last week, the social network (which now resembles more of a job board) removed the export contacts feature. This move gained a lot of negative attention from the mainstream media and technology blogs. This week, after the PR team made their way through all the negative press, the decision was reversed.
  • I’ve been a huge fan of Google+ since the platform launched. I’ve used it extensively to interview sourcing and recruiting experts around the world. On a personal level, I’ve enjoyed using Google+ to edit photos (I’m not very good with photoshop). Unfortunately, the rest of the world didn’t adopt Google+ with such enthusiasm. In yet another display that Google leaders know the platform is doomed, Google blogged that the company will no longer require users to have a G+ profile to  use other Google products, including Youtube. I have to admit, I’m not real concerned with the G+ community disappearing. I just hope Google Hangouts ON AIR don’t disappear.
  • The Next Web has reported that many developers are exposing their Git directories online. No, Github is not a Git (read more here).
  • Have you ever wished you had more control over emails you send? Dmail let’s you send emails via Gmail that will self destruct. A future edition will allow you to send emails that can’t be forwarded. Read more about Dmail on Techcrunch.
